Before and after

This old crane has been sitting there in Indiantown all the time I've lived here ...which is only one year, but still... It was ugly and noone seemed to be using it. It was only good for reflections in the water. The other day, when we came down there, it had vanished! Gone, without a trace!

Posting pictures

As I don't have a «theme» for my Posterous and don't want to use this as a personal diary, it has become a big mix of anything and everything. I've pretty much given up on making this more structured at this point. It will probably stay this way -- odds and ends of stuff that I find on the web. Things that I find funny, interesting enough or curious to save.

I don't know how many pictures (or what file size) one can attach in an email so I've attached a big bunch here now to see it it works :)

First of Fall

was yesterday, and it was an incredible day here, weather-wise.

One cruise ship was in, and even though there was only one [sometimes there are three], I've never seen so many tourists at the Reversing Falls. It was also a perfect time for them to visit there because the tide was coming in, big time. Sometimes there are buses there at slack tide, and that's so unfortunate because you don't get any idea of what it's all about. It actually took me some time to fully grasp the whole thing about the tides...you must see it at least two times in  a day to understand what it does.

Today, however...looking out the window, it really looks like a fall day with thick fog but that will go away. It's not even 9 o'clock yet. Two cruise ships in today.

When I get up in the morning I start with the email, I read and reply.. Then I go through all the other stuff like Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and whatnot. This could be a full-time job easily..  I get my Posterous subscriptions as a summary in an email, which is good. Many of the posts are funny pictures and stuff but I don't comment on every single one of them. Perhaps I should.

This is turning out to be a rather pointless post without any substance but I just wanted to write something. I've done so much 'customizing' of my Posterous now so I thought I'd better write something instead of just figuring out the CSS/HTML stuff. I'm quite happy with it as it is now. I'm quite certain that we're going to see oodles of lovely themes appearing here in Posterous in a while -- considering how many creative people there are out there.

I put in this picture of the pulp mill because I kind of liked the reflection. Unfortunately, when I post this, it will appear again in my Facebook because it showed up with I uploaded them to my Flickr account. That's the downside of all this -- one has to decide beforehand which picture to use in Posterous before uploading it to Flickr -- otherwise you get them TWICE in Facebook!

My Day ... in ONE picture

..and not even a good picture because I didn't bother with the tripod.

I'm home alone, my husband is away for a couple of days. In this photo you have the couch, the cat, the computer, ashtray and the remote. It pretty much says it all ☺

Well, I did go out for a while -- had lunch with my friend at McDonald's. Tomorrow I'll take a walk downtown. Need to go to the library and pick up a book, amongst others.

Almost finished

We drove by Lily Lake today to see if there still were any ducks left. All the wigeons have left. There were quite a few left, and I don't know if these are the ones that will spend the winter. It's my first year here.

It's funny to see how the male mallards' heads are turning green now...this one [in the picture], is almost finished. I've followed these guys since the Spring, when they were just little downy balls...

Marigolds on Main Street

...a picture I've been itching to take. This Sunday morning I was up early enough -- thinking it wouldn't be too much traffic. Still, there were quite a few cars out, and as I was sitting there in the median, the ambulance drove by with the sirens full blast..

Each Spring they bring out hundreds of kids to plant these marigolds on Main Street. A while back, I saw they were removing old the old flowers, and they really came back nicely.

Now the fog has rolled in -- it's like pea soup -- so I'm glad I went out while it was still reasonably clear.
