POLL: Tumblr Edges Out Posterous in Reader Vote

tumblr-posterousIf you were with us last week, you witnessed a mighty battle between our two winning browsers from an earlier poll, Firefox and Chrome. Almost 9,000 votes later, Firefox emerged victorious and took the crown for Favorite Mashable Browser.

Earlier this week we kicked off a new Faceoff, this time pitting Tumblr against Posterous for the simple blogging service crown. We have the winner of this contest now, drumroll please…

Tumblr (Tumblr

) ended up taking the title in a relatively close race with 51% of the vote. Many of you cited the community surrounding Tumblr as a great reason to use the tool, and many in the Posterous (Posterous

) camp said the simplicity of posting by email was unbeatable.

Still, in the end Tumblr came out on top with 1809 votes to Posterous’s 1496 (42%). The remainder of the voters couldn’t decide, with 256 or 7% reporting being unable to choose a victor.

Thanks for tuning in to the second in our Faceoff series. Be sure to check back on Monday for the next round of dueling web services!

Web Faceoff: Overall Results

Week 1:
- Mozilla Firefox (Mozilla Firefox

) vs. Google Chrome (Google Chrome

)
- WINNER: Firefox (Firefox

), 4600 votes (Chrome (Chrome

): 3310 votes, Tie: 911 votes)

Week 2:
- Tumblr vs. Posterous
- WINNER: Tumblr, 1809 votes (Posterous: 1496 votes, Tie: 256 votes)

I read here that many stated the sense of community in Tumblr. That I can understand. We don't have much of that here in Posterous, that I know of. In that case it has eluded me completely.

I'm thinking maybe there is a different age group using posterous. I don't find tumblr as easy to use or as explanitory. I also find it easier to find people to follow here. I am wondering what their reasons were.

I don't know either. I do have a Tumblr account, but that was one of those things I signed up for and never did anything. Tumblr, I think has been around a little longer than Posterous and has had the theme thing for some time now. People are sharing themes and so on..

Yes, I have one too and I send my things from here to there. I have been over there decorating and I have blog hopped but I like this format better for some reason. I do have some people I follow there. It seems to me there is a younger group there.

This format has always appealed to me ... both the posting itself, and how I can reply here now from my email.
I posted a link to a new forum http://posterize.us and that could become quite active, I guess, if many people find out about it...
